That Alan, what can I say. His dedication, expertise and attention to detail is way beyond what we expected, out with us everyday showing us how and where. Alan picks us up and drives us to the days venue, he is on hand as you tackle up with his knowledge of the best rigs the best bait and the best place to put it.
I can not speak too highly of Alan and his setup, he made sure we had a swell time, in this idyllic fishing haven, and always time for a beer on the way home. The man delivered the best fishing holiday we have ever had.
    Thanks Alan, Tony

Now to the fishing what can I say we all caught carp from 5lb up to my 40lb not bad for a bunch of lads who has never ever fished for carp in there lives we cannot thank you enough. Hope to see you next year but I have to sweeten up the wife up first take care mate hope to see you soon.

This was my second trip with Alan at Extremadura Fishing. Yet again he did not disappoint, the weather was great the craic was great and I caught my new P.B. 54lb wild mirror from Orellana need I say more.
if you want a fantastic fishing holiday book a week or two with Alan you will not be disappointed, plus at the end of the day if you threaten to break his arm he will buy you a beer (joking)

I suppose you are always slightly sceptical of these fishing holidays – in this case don’t be !! Could not have been better. I was looking for a tour to celebrate my retirement. I had discounted Catfish trips as too much propensity to get ripped off, I came across Alan in my research. Everything was as promised. No hidden extras, no bait charges , and Alan picked us up at Madrid Airport bang on time. The fishing was excellent, through discussion with Alan we fished 5 different venues over 6 days. Spectacular scenery – mountains , valleys, huge dams and lakes and a variety of wildlife not seen at home. We caught a mixed bag, mainly Carp with a few small Barbel thrown in together with those massive Spanish Crucians, our best went over 3 lb. Everything is 2lb plus and fights like no tomorrow. Our biggest Carp went 33lb to the tour non-angler !! Lots of doubles thrown in. Alan brings all your gear in a trailer and helps you set up. He will even spod your swim for you. I would bring a tackle box of your own with Polaris floats, method feeders, hooklength 6 – 12lb honest , hooks etc and snips etc . Alan does provide all tackle but its easier to have your own bits. Fresh lunch and beer in the sun whilst fishing does not get any better !! Alan will pick you up each morning at a time to suit and stay on the bank as long as you want. We chucked the towel in about 5-6pm each evening then there is a nice stop at a bar on the way home for a beer..or two… We stayed at the hotel in Talarrubias which was very well appointed, big rooms available as twins or we paid a 35 euro supplement (5 euro a night !) to have single rooms all en-suite. Very friendly staff in the hotel in Jose behind the bar. By day 3 we had him cooking eggs and bacon after offering us a cake for breakfast on day one !! Price wise you will be surprised if you have never been to rural Spain, its as cheap as chips. There is a good variety of restaurants and you can eat out with a beer or two for 10 euros a head. With every round of drinks you get Tapas (small snacks) so if you have 4 beers you can get a free meal effectively if you are not so hungry. We went late September and it was 30 + degrees every day with one day of cloud in 7. Overall bl–dy marvellous, we will be back hopefully next year. If anyone would like to contact me to discuss or ask questions I am more than happy – markwhitham@sky.com So thanks Alan and Sue we had a blast and Alan get those northern reels sorted out !!! Overall well done for doing what it says on the tin.

The fishing was great, some nice fish caught by all in fantastic surroundings and the beer and tapas in Jesus`s an exellent way to end the day.All ready looking forward to next year ! Adios for now, Dave.

A massive thanks to Alan for his hospitality and knowledge of the fishing in the local areas. Myself and 4 others Fran Dave Sam and Webbo from (Cas).
we all caught fish every day and with water levels very low and scorching temperatures 40 – 43 degrees you get a feel for what this place could produce given better conditions. The last day myself and Dave tried some Bass fishing from Stefan’s boat, we landed 5 decent sized Bass and lost probably as many again. A good days fishing but not the cheapest an extra 150.00 euros for 2 people.
mostly carp caught but boy do they go especially on the rivers.
I can thoroughly recommend Alan and this fishing experience.

  7. Mark Whitham says:

Alan – HIGHLY RECOMMENDED – Our 3rd trip which I suppose sums it up. Fishing was difficult but weather for early October was pretty good. The craic was mighty and 4 euros for a cheeseburger and chips and 1 euro a beer can’t get any better. The hotel was marvellous as usual and the scenery, wildlife and fishing venues were unsurpassed (sorry big word for a Northerner Al) We particularly enjoyed the overnight trip to the Crazy Lake where we caught well.
Tackle shops outstanding and if we could just f– about for a bit longer in the mornings it would be perfect. Alan hope to be back for a big girl in April – will take you out in the UK in the winter as long as you dont catch any trout…….. speak soon – Mark

  8. Bob Cattell says:

Scott and I had a really good time despite the excessive temperatures (42c plus) and low water levels. The fishing was good and we all caught plenty of fish but I it think it would be even better when the levels rise and the temp’s ease a little. The fish are very aggressive on the take and we all came close to loosing our rods (I mean Alan’s rods). The carp fight all the way to the net including the crucians. Already thinking about our next trip and may be some barbel and tench. We thank Alan for his hospitality and look forward to seeing him again.

  9. Ellen Fugaccia says:

It was my first time carp fishing , Alan taught me with the greatest patience, resulting in me at the end if the week catching a 12.9 ounce carp
However over the week i also caught a 9pound Barbel.
Through the week there wasn’t one day that I didn’t catch something
He ensures that we are comfortable in our living quarters , and have ample food.
Because of this great experience i am now hooked on fishing of any description and cannot wait for our return later this year. ( excuse the pun )
    Thank you Alan x

  10. Mick Abdy says:

Five of us had a good time on a recent trip, aiming to target the barbel and larger carp, even though the fishing was difficult at times on account of a massive temperature drop a couple of days into the holiday which put the big girls off the feed. Alan looks after his clients very well and has an intimate knowledge of all the better fishing areas around Talarrubias and further afield, having sole access to many fincas (countryside farms & properties) and the better fishing areas. We stayed in the apartment and self-catered, which was very well appointed and handy for bars and the early morning bakery run (assuming you didn’t get lost on the way back). lol. Eating out was cheap and supermarket drink even cheaper. Plenty of bait was provided nothing hi-tech required for these truly wild fish. Maggots were partially successful on the River Guadiana for barbel to 9lb for one member of the group, but the small river Carp hoovered up everything for the rest of us. Thank you Alan for looking after us and making sure we had everything we needed.

  11. Fel Moore says:

Very hot week 23-30th Oct.Really affected the fishing only a few small ones caught. a couple of big ones slipped the hook. Were looked after well in all aspects by Alan and Chris, they could not have done any more for us.quality tackle, good advice, lovely venues, lots of wild life, very friendly people. Thanks to Pedro in the bar and Paco at the hotel. Extremadura is a beautiful place, relaxed calm and serene, just the place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Will definitely go again perhaps in the Spring.
